A trio of Year 10s got into the swing of golf and finished a brilliant third in the Lancashire Schools Golf Competition
Aidan, Finn and Will all play at Penwortham Golf Club and, as Priory, entered a tournament at Darwen Golf Club, with more than 30 school teams involved.
These included many private schools where the boys admitted: ‘They had all the gear!’
Will has a handicap of 21.8, Aiden 13 and Finn 19.7.
Will said: “I like golf, I play every week. I enjoy playing, even though you can have good and bad days.”
All admire Rory McIlroy but Finn admitted: “My favourite is Tommy Fleetwood as he has played at Penwortham Golf Club.”
The school competition at Darwen was tough and they had a lot to get used to.
Aiden said: “It was hilly compared to Penwortham and the greens were really fast.”
It was a singles competition with the two best scores counting from the trio counting.
Finn said: “There were 100s of players there so it was a good challenge and it was fun. We got a sleeve of golf balls and a trophy.”
Head of PE & Sport Mr Bullock said: “It was fantastic to see so many pupils who play golf outside of school stepping up to represent Priory and performing to such a high standard. They should be very proud of their efforts, particularly as they came so close to qualifying for the National Schools Nett Team Championships in July.”
Finn also takes part in Mixed Martial Arts at the North West Fight Academy and will have his first amateur fight in September.
