World Book Day Door Decorating Extravaganza
8 March 2026
Priory’s staff and pupils brought stories to life last week as part of our annual World Book Day Door Decorating Competition.
Once again, the creativity, humour and imagination on display turned our corridors into a vibrant celebration of reading. From classic tales to modern favourites, each department embraced the challenge with gusto.
Miss Howell’s Wicked creation certainly stopped people in their tracks… though we’re still undecided whether Galinda is quite channelling Ariana Grande levels of glamour!
Meanwhile, the ICT team clearly had a quiet day after unleashing their rather menacing Pennywise from ‘It’… not for the faint‑hearted!
Pupils passing the School Office were tempted by actual Turkish Delight as they stepped into The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe — even Edmund would have struggled to resist.
From Peter Pan soaring over London (via the Business & Finance Office), to two adorable Very Hungry Caterpillars, a colourful trip Up, tropical Where’s Wally? adventures, the bright and bold Lorax, and even a full journey through We’re Going on a Bear Hunt… every door told its own story.
The effort and imagination shown by staff and their forms this year have been exceptional, and the displays have sparked conversations, laughter and curiosity among pupils all week. The English department certainly faced a difficult task in choosing the eventual winners — the standard has been higher than ever.
World Book Day at Priory continues to inspire a love of reading and creativity across the school, and this year’s door designs have once again shown what a talented and enthusiastic community we have.
