Before the summer break Penwortham in Bloom held its annual awards presentations.
Competitions were for 'Domestic' categories such as 'Front Garden', ‘Pots and Tubs' and 'Hanging Baskets'. There was also an award for 'Local Businesses' and an award for 'Local Schools'.
Mr Farron's hard work paid off, winning Gold for 'School Gardens', Best in Class for 'School Gardens' and also the 'Winner of Winners' Award. Not only did Mr Farron receive certificates, but he also received gift vouchers to buy more plants for the school.
Mr Farron was presented with the awards in a full school assembly on the last day of term, to allow staff and pupils to celebrate his achievements as a school.
Ms Smith, herself a keen gardener, accompanied Mr Faron and his family to the awards on behalf of the school.
Ms Smith said, "We are continually proud of the work Mr Farron does for the school in the gardens. They are certainly a 'labour of love' as I know from experiencing their upkeep. It was fantastic to meet so many fellow gardeners who appreciated the photographs of our beautiful surroundings.
“We are planning to open the gardens to interested members of the public in the forthcoming term, so that the community can come in and personally view them'.
